Anxiety Issues

Anxious Children Just Want to Feel Safe

We know that your child wants to worry less.

Yes, they want to sleep in their own beds.
They want to feel comfortable playing alone in the basement,  initiating play with less familiar kids and separating from their parents.

They want to stop but their “what if…” worst-case scenario thoughts often block them from even trying.

The long-term benefits and freedom of working through their worries pale in comparison to the short-term comfort of sticking close to a parent, or of totally avoiding uncomfortable/unfamiliar situations.

Consequently, children often resist change and parents can feel stuck and frustrated. Sometimes it can seem like your child’s anxiety is ruling the house.

As a parent, you want to help your child push past the anxiety but the emotional meltdowns can make you question if you are pushing too much.

How to Calm Down

How to Make Better Choices

All you want is a happy, peaceful family.
Of course you expect the occasional tantrums, sibling rivalry, pushback - that just comes with being a parent.

Dramatic meltdowns, and aggression, however, are a different story. Those behaviors were never part of the plan.

Kids with big emotions, the ones who melt down when there are no waffles left and they want one, when they have to leave  playdates, or whenever they hear “No” for an answer-- can be a little hard to parent.

We can provide You and Your Child tools to:

  • Use Words vs. Actions to Express Upset/Frustration
  • Become Better at Recognizing Options and Solving Everyday Problems
  • Help Slow Down Impulsivity
  • Help with Attention Issues

Social Skills

Let's Book Those Playdates

Play is supposed to be fun, something kids naturally do.

We know that you want your child’s childhood to be flooded with happy memories.

Playing with friends, laughing and enjoying the games and adventures  that only childhood friends share.

For some kids all of those skills come naturally, but for many they don’t.

Don’t despair. Most, if not all, of those skills can be taught.

There are many reasons children struggle in this area:

  • Anxiety ...
  • Skills ...
  • Big Emotions ...
