High Functioning Anxiety

Yes, It's a thing
(and you're allowed to complain)

Are You a High Achiever With Hidden Anxiety?

To the Outside World, You Probably Look Like You Have It All.

Driven at work, successful at your career, happy in your life. Reliable, outgoing, organized and calm are adjectives typically associated with you. Others might  view you as successful but difficult to read and unemotional.

In some sense you do “have it all.” So much so that you are almost embarrassed to let anyone know how anxious you truly are.

An overbooked schedule, ruminating on things for way too long, periods of procrastination followed by long periods of “crunch time” work and a limited social calendar. All of these point to high functioning anxiety.

We can provide you with a fresh perspective and tools to help quiet anxiety and, if you need it, to better balance your life.

Tired Of

Overthinking?

We Can Help You

Let Go

We get that you would love to be a person who could have a conversation once and not rehash it in your mind.

You know, the type of person who can allow events to unfold and not worry days in advance about what could happen.

The problem is that your mind tends to jump to worse case scenarios and gets stuck there.

Those “What If…” types of thoughts cause you to be anxious, distracted and if they go on long enough, depressed.

At Abridged Psychology, we  believe that people should spend less time managing their emotions and more time enjoying their lives.

Our Cognitive Behavioral Therapists are skilled at breaking through rumination and helping clients to calm down.

We can help you to better understand the link between YOUR  specific thoughts and your emotions, and your behaviors.

We proactively teach clients how to spot and nip worrisome thoughts when they first begin. How to let go and move on.

Give us a call so you can spend less time in your head and more time in the moment.

We Know You Love Them

But …

We know you just want a happy peaceful household.

In order to have that, you need each member of the family to manage their own emotions, be able to understand the perspective of others, be willing to pitch in, communicate respectfully, and compromise.

The problem is that as a family you feel stuck.

There are these recurring, predictable patterns of behaviors that occur between family members, leading to the same old arguments, negative behaviors and upset.

You can see it happening but you feel helpless to stop it.

We get that. That’s why we now offer Family Therapy as a service.

Our family therapists will assess your family as a system noting what roles each member plays in the family and any problematic patterns that exist.

As a family you’ll work collaboratively with your counselor to create new healthier patterns of verbal interactions and behaviors.

So you can stop being the family where everyone is holed up alone in their rooms and start being the family who actually have fun hanging out together.

Feeling Meh?

“Time to switch it up"

You want to be excited about your life. That person who springs out of bed looking forward to a happy, productive and fun day. In order to be that way, you need to figure out either what you want to add into your life or what’s blocking you from achieving your goals and move past it. The problem is you feel stuck; you are not sure how to make this happen. This is not the life you expected or want to lead.

We believe life should be fun. Yes, there will be ups and downs but overall people should have a sense of purpose, a community of people who support them, a partner in life and basically go about enjoying themselves.

That’s why our counselors focus on every aspect of your life, the whole person, not just the problems.

Let us help you
Actively Design Your Life  and then we’ll work with you to get you there.

You Could Have:

  • A Career You Love
  • Friends that Support You and Keep You Laughing
  • Opportunities to Make a Difference
  • An Amazing Partner Who “Gets” You
  • A Healthy, Balanced, Fun Life

You Could, But Secret Fears Like:

  • I’m Not Strong Enough
  • I’m Not Smart Enough
  • I’m Not Lovable

Could be holding you back from living your best life.

Self Defeating Thoughts Like:

  • Everyone is more confident than I am
  • I’m so overwhelmed
  • What If my idea is no good?
  • I’m socially awkward

can hold you back from fully participating in your life.  They tempt you to stay with what is familiar but not necessarily better.

Negative emotions, --anxiety, depression, anger--, drive negative behaviors like (isolating, avoiding healthy risks, staying in toxic relationships, lashing out at yourself or others).

Behaviors that can block your road to success.

Pregnancy and Fertility Challenges

“The Struggle is Part of the Story”

We know that you probably imagined yourself lovingly gazing at your newborn chronically every milestone. In your mind, despite having a baby, your hair is perfect, your makeup on and your clothes chic and put together. Life is perfect.

That’s the fantasy.

The reality is there are actually a lot of emotions (and hormonal changes) that accompany being pregnant, giving birth and afterwards. Fertility struggles and treatments just compound that.

Why wouldn’t we expect to have some emotional struggles?

One in eight couples struggle with becoming and staying pregnant. It’s estimated that 50%-75% of new moms have “the baby blues” and 15% of them go on to develop postpartum depression.

We can help you work through feeling down, guilty, anxious, angry, or jealous.

Feel supported and not judged.

Our focus will be on how to take care of yourself while adapting to your unique journey.
